Sold Securities Report

Sold Securities Report

The Sold Securities Report within Sharesight shows the total return on any shares that have been sold within the selected date range. Subtotals are provided at the bottom of each section and a grand total is provided at the bottom of the report.

By clicking on a holding in the list you will be taken to the Individual Holding Page where you can edit any information if required.

The portfolio holdings are organised by a specified grouping in the holding table, default is by market.

How income and dividends are calculated

A common misconception is that the date range filters which dividends or income payments are shown in the report. This is not the case.

The date range determines which sell trades fall within the reporting period. The report then shows all income and dividends attributed to those sold shares over their entire holding period — not just the income received within the date range.

Example: If you bought shares 10 years ago and sold them in the current financial year, running the report for the current financial year will show all dividends earned on those shares across the full 10-year holding period, not just the dividends paid this year.

This is by design — the report is intended to give you a complete picture of the total return on your sold positions, including all income received while you held them.

If you are looking for dividends and income paid within a specific date range regardless of whether the holding was sold, the Taxable Income Report (available for Australian and Canadian portfolios) or the Future Income Report are better options.
